Registration & Membership
Who can join Prestons Robins Little Athletics Centre?
Children aged 3 to 17 years can participate, depending on their age as at 31 December in the current season.
How do I register?
All registrations are completed online through the Little Athletics NSW registration system. Visit our Registration page for current fees, registration links and important information.
Do I need to provide proof of age?
Yes. All new athletes must provide proof of age (such as a birth certificate or hospital Blue Book/card) before their registration can be approved.
Can my child try Little Athletics before registering?
Yes! We offer a 2-Week Free Trial so your child can experience Little Athletics before committing to membership.
Can I register after the season has started?
Yes, registrations remain open while places are available. Once Centre capacity is reached, registrations may close without notice.
Competition Nights
When are competitions held?
Competitions are held on Friday evenings during the Little Athletics season at Ash Road Sporting Complex.
What time should we arrive?
Please arrive at least 15–20 minutes before the scheduled start time to allow athletes to warm up and be with their age group before events begin.
Do athletes compete every Friday?
Most Friday nights are competition nights; however, there are occasional breaks due to public holidays, championships or Centre events. Check our Calendar for the latest schedule.
What happens if it rains?
Competitions may be cancelled or modified due to wet weather or unsafe conditions. Any changes will be communicated through our website and social media as early as possible.
Can parents stay during competition?
Yes. A parent or guardian must remain at the venue for the entire competition. Little Athletics is not a drop-and-go activity.
Uniforms
Is the Club uniform compulsory?
Yes. Athletes must wear the official Prestons Robins competition uniform when competing.
Where do I place my registration number and age patch?
The registration number must be attached to the front of the competition top, with the Coles age patch positioned above the registration number, as required by Little Athletics NSW.
Can I wear skins or leggings?
Yes, provided they comply with Little Athletics NSW uniform regulations and are worn underneath the official Club uniform where required.
Training
Is training compulsory?
No. Training is optional but is encouraged for athletes who would like to improve their skills, fitness and confidence.
When is training held?
Training is conducted on Monday evenings at Ash Road Sporting Complex for eligible age groups. Visit our Training page for session times.
Volunteers & Parents
Why do parents need to help?
Prestons Robins Little Athletics Centre is 100% volunteer-run. Parent assistance is essential to ensure competition nights run safely, fairly and on time.
How can I help?
Parents can assist as:
- Age Managers
- Parent Helpers
- Set Up and Pack Up volunteers
- BBQ volunteers
- Officials and event assistants
No experience is necessary – we’ll provide guidance and training.
Do I need to volunteer every week?
Families are expected to assist throughout the season. When everyone helps, the workload is shared and competition runs smoothly.
Championships
Can everyone compete at Championships?
Most athletes are eligible to compete in Championship events provided they meet the participation requirements set by Little Athletics NSW.
Do I need to qualify?
Some Championship events require qualification through Zone and Region competitions, while others are open entry. Eligibility depends on the event and athlete’s age group.
Results
Where can I view my child’s results?
Results are available through ResultsHQ, where families can view performances, personal bests and season progress.
What is a Personal Best (PB)?
A Personal Best (PB) is the best performance an athlete has achieved in an event during the season.
How are Point Score and trophies calculated?
Point Score, trophies and awards are determined according to the Centre’s season criteria. Full details are available on our Results page.
General Information
Can siblings or friends accompany athletes onto the competition field?
Yes, during our Friday Night Competitions, however, they must be fully supervised at all times to prevent any accidents or injuries.
No, not at Gala Days and Championships, only registered athletes, officials and approved volunteers are permitted inside competition areas unless otherwise directed.
Are pets allowed?
No. Dogs and other pets are not permitted inside the fenced competition area, except for registered assistance animals.
Is smoking or vaping permitted?
No. Smoking and vaping are prohibited within the competition area in accordance with Little Athletics NSW policies.
