Little Athletics relies on Volunteers and a Parent/Carer from every family is asked to assist in some way each Friday Competition night!
Prestons Robins LAC is a voluntary organisation, and we cannot operate without the assistance of parents and carers each week. We are not a baby-sitting service – we encourage parents not to sit and watch from the car park, but follow their age group around the field whilst their athlete/s are competing.
Parents on-site
Our Centre allows parents onto the track BUT we ask that you assist the Age Managers, watch all 3 tracks and also to supervise younger siblings so that they are not injured. Please note our 17’s athletes, wearing spikes in a sprint race will find it difficult to stop on the track without someone being hurt !!!

Duty of Care
Athletes must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to, and for the duration of, all competition meetings. If you are not present on the field, your athlete may be removed from the competing that night.
Get involved – How can YOU help?
Age Managers and Parent Helpers

Helping is easy – tasks include measuring jumps and throws, retrieving shot puts and discus, raking the sand pit, organising athletes at the start of a race, issuing place cards at the finish line of a race.
The more parents that get involved to help our Committee and Age Managers, the quicker and smoother the competition night will run. If you are unsure of event rules, please do not hesitate to speak to one of our committee members.
Event Officials

All parents/carers are encouraged to learn how to officiate events. Have a chat to one of our Committee members to find out how you can learn more.
LANSW this season has provided a lot more access to knowledge and training to assist parents when at our weekly competition. Whether you are an Age Manager, assisting the Age Manager or would like to take a step up and become a qualified official this is now easier.
For all the Event Fact Sheets (downloadable) and information please visit our Get Involved page.
Online Learning

You can complete the online training and build your confidence or if you are interested in becoming a qualified Official, please speak to a Committee member on the next step.

Be Your Best
The philosophy of Little Athletics is to ‘Be Your Best’ and to enable and encourage participation in physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. This includes physical and mental health. Parents/carers are reminded that the emphasis is not on winning but rather achieving personal bests (PBs).
This is where success is achieved and should be celebrated. Parents/carers are requested not to “pressure” athletes to win but rather to continue trying their best. Parents/carers are also requested to ‘Be Your Best’ in all aspects of their demeanor.
Uniform
Parents are required to ensure that all children compete in the correct Centre uniform with all their age and registration number patches attached. Uniform details and requirements can be found here.
We are ALL Volunteers!
Please remember, everyone at our Centre is a volunteer and here to assist the children to participate in a safe and enjoyable environment.
