Every Family Can Make a Difference
Little Athletics is one of the few sports where parents are part of the experience.
Helping out doesn’t require special skills or a large time commitment. Whether you can assist for one event or take on a regular role, every contribution helps create a better experience for all athletes.
Ways You Can Help
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved throughout the season.
Age Managers
Help guide your age group between events, encourage athletes and assist competitions to run smoothly.
Parent Helpers
Assist officials with simple tasks such as collecting equipment, organising athletes or recording results.
Set Up
Arrive a little early to help prepare the competition area before events begin.
Pack Up
Stay for a short time after competition to help return equipment and tidy the grounds.
Field Events
Assist with measuring, raking long jump pits, retrieving implements or recording performances.
BBQ & Canteen
Help prepare and serve food and drinks that support Centre fundraising.
Championships & Special Events
Extra volunteers are always appreciated during Zone and Region Championships.
Do I Need Experience?
No.
Most volunteer roles are easy to learn, and experienced volunteers will explain everything you need to know.
If you’re unsure where to start, we’ll help you find a role that suits your confidence, interests and availability.
Why We Ask Every Family to Help
Prestons Robins Little Athletics Centre is entirely volunteer-run.
When every family contributes a small amount throughout the season:
- Competitions start on time.
- Athletes spend less time waiting.
- Events run more efficiently.
- The workload is shared fairly.
- Everyone enjoys a better Friday night experience.
Even 15–30 minutes of assistance makes a real difference.
Benefits of Volunteering
Many parents are surprised by how rewarding volunteering can be.
By getting involved you’ll:
- Meet other families.
- Learn more about athletics.
- Support your child’s sporting journey.
- Build confidence in new skills.
- Become part of a friendly community.
Some of our Committee members started by helping with a single event before taking on larger roles.
