Program

Friday Night Competition

Every Friday night is packed with fun, movement and opportunities for every athlete to learn new skills, improve their Personal Bests (PBs) and enjoy athletics with friends.

Our competition follows a fortnightly (2-week) program that includes running, jumping and throwing events suitable for each age group. Athletes are encouraged to participate in as many events as they feel comfortable doing, but it is never compulsory to compete in every event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child have to compete in every event?

No. Athletes are encouraged to try all events, but participation in every event is not compulsory.

What happens if it rains?

If competition is cancelled due to weather, that week’s program simply moves to the following Friday.

For example, if Week 1 is cancelled, the next competition will still be Week 1.

Do all age groups do the same events?

No. Events are age appropriate and follow Little Athletics NSW event guidelines.

Older athletes gradually progress to additional events such as hurdles, race walking, javelin and triple jump.

Where can I see what events are on each week?

The current week’s program is shared on our Facebook and Instagram pages before Friday night’s competition.

Can athletes leave early?

Yes. If your athlete is leaving before all of their events are completed, please let your Age Manager know before you leave.

Can parents help?

Absolutely! Parent helpers are essential each Friday night and help events run smoothly. No experience is required—our Age Managers and Committee members will show you what to do.
